the photographer:

Hi, I'm Mary, the photographer! You should know a little about me if you're considering using HappyAsHumans Photography.

Originally I didn't want to be a photographer, I wanted to be an editor. I loved to edit photos, loved to make people look their best, to play with the different filters, to make it look super-professional, even with the free online programs.

Eventually I ran out of pictures. I used a simple point-and-shoot camera to take some photos around the house and neighborhood. It worked, it was something to keep me busy.

My Dad started offering my photography skills to people and I had to use my sister's Canon Rebel to make the pictures (and myself) look more professional. For my sixteenth birthday he got me my first REAL camera - Pixy - a Nikon D3100 SLR with two lenses. It was an amazing upgrade from the chinzy and finicky Elph I was using - I immediately fell in love with it. Thanks, Dad!

Since then I've brushed up on my actual photography and taken a few courses with noticable results. I've booked shoots consistently every month and it's been wonderful! Every shoot has helped me feel more comfortable with a camera in my hand, and the experience I've gained has helped to improve my skill. I have truly loved every moment of it - so far, no complaints! <wink>
